If you have a hedgehog requiring urgent treatment due to an injury, please take it immediately to your nearest vet as it will likely require specialist treatment. The quicker it gets to the vet, the greater the chance it has.
If you have a hedgehog that you’ve found out in the day time, that you are concerned about, please do the following:
- Make a note of the location, What3Words is a great tool. This is important in case we find it is a lactating female, we may be able to release it straight back to the area, once checks have been carried out.
- If you can please weigh the hedgehog, this information is vital.
- Place the hedgehog in a secure box, with a hot water bottle and a towel for cover.
- Only put in some water, do not give them any food.
- Put the box in a quiet, dry, warm location, away from pets, and avoid any unnecessary handling.
- Contact us on 07849 772373 for further guidance and details on how we can help.
Due to most of us working full-time, it is not possible to come to you to collect the hedgehogs, but we may know someone who could help, so please ask. If you are unable to bring them to us, please seek help from your friends and family and help us to help you and the hedgehogs you find.
It is so very important that the hedgehogs are seen as soon as possible and we appreciate your help in making this happen.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at hello@helpinghogs.co.uk
We look forward to helping the hogs that you find and thank you for having a big hoggie heart.
Kind regards
